ICYMI: NORTHERN CAPTIVES – ‘WISH YOU WOULD QUIT’

In case you missed it – Lincoln’s finest jangly indie punk purveyors Northern Captives have unveiled their first new single of the year. Self-produced by singer-songwriter Sam Cook, and mastered by the brilliant Mass Giorgini (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio), the song is available now through all good streaming services.

It’s a soul-churning track from a band with a next level understanding of melody and dynamics that could easily rival the likes of Manchester Orchestra, Kevin Devine and Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties given the road testing. Nestled between overdriven crunch, a neatly driven bassline and steady rhythms, Cook & co show they know how to take a song from 0-60 with minimal effort. Hitting the sweet spot early on and breezily building as the song progresses and finally cuts dead – Northern Captives are on the money once again.

Catch them in action at Liquor, Lincoln with Hell’s Ditch and Northern Captives on 21st March. Tickets on sale now: hellsditch.co.uk.
